Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I want to thank everyone who participated in the Transportation Town Hall on Monday in Enumclaw. We had several dozen people who were able to attend.

For those of you who were not able to be there, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) presented a congestion-improvement plan for the Highway 410 corridor between Bonney Lake and Enumclaw.

The next step at the legislative level is working to find transportation budget money in the upcoming session to fund the engineering and design portion of the project, so it can be “shovel ready.”

As we move forward, it is important we continue to communicate on this project and other transportation needs in our area as well. I would invite folks to reply to any or all of the questions below.

  • Regarding 410 congestion relief, should we focus on increasing flow through downtown Buckley (along the existing 410) or build a bypass around town?
  • What other projects in your neighborhood should be on our radar?
  • Because vehicles' fuel efficiency is increasing, gas tax collections are declining. WSDOT is studying a “vehicle miles travelled tax” to eventually replace the gas tax. I have my own reservations about the idea, but what do you think?

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Warmly,

Drew Stokesbary
