Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Are you ready for a state income tax?
I'm sure you've heard the old Ben Franklin saying, “in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”
While that might be true, I'm happy to report I'm working hard to take at least one tax off the table. Recently, I joined 37 of my House Republican colleagues in co-sponsoring House Joint Resolution 4207, which would amend our state constitution to prohibit a state income tax.
Voters in Washington have said nine times in the past 80 years they do not want a state income tax. And, in 1933 the state supreme court even ruled that an income tax was unconstitutional. Despite this, it remains a political issue, and the majority party refuses to rule out an income tax.
I want to know how you feel about a state income tax! Click here to take a one-question survey.
As always, I look forward to hearing from you about the issues that matter the most.
Warmly,

Drew Stokesbary
