31st District Reps. Stokesbary, Penner urge Governor Ferguson to block release of triple murderer Timothy Pauley into Bonney Lake community
UPDATE (3/25):
Governor Ferguson has canceled Timothy Pauley’s parole.
Rep. Stokesbary issued the following statement in response to the governor’s decision:
“We are grateful for Governor Ferguson’s decisive action today in canceling Timothy Pauley’s parole. The governor’s decision reflects the necessary commitment to justice Rep. Penner and I called for in our letter yesterday and demonstrates respect for the well-being of the victims’ families and concern for the safety of the Bonney Lake community. State leaders must always stand with victims and their loved ones to ensure those who commit heinous acts are held accountable and our communities remain safe.
“This outcome would not have been possible without the incredible courage of the victims’ families, who refused to let their loved ones be forgotten. We commend the governor for his willingness to meet with them this week and carefully review the extensive record before reaching this conclusion. Today, their voices mattered, and justice prevailed.”
ORIGINAL POST (3/24):
Thirty-First District Representatives Drew Stokesbary and Joshua Penner have formally urged Governor Bob Ferguson to block the parole of convicted triple murderer Timothy Pauley, whose release is set for March 27. Pauley’s premeditated and brutal crimes in 1980 at a SeaTac tavern resulted in the deaths of three innocent individuals and left two survivors with lifelong trauma. In their letter, Stokesbary and Penner remind Governor Ferguson of his campaign pledge, featured on his website, about “standing up for survivors of violent crime,” urging him to honor that commitment by preventing Pauley’s release and protecting the victims’ families from further emotional harm. They also highlight the concerns of Bonney Lake residents, where Pauley is expected to reside if released, emphasizing the profound impact his newfound freedom would have on the community.
