Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Public pressure works and your voice matters. That’s the lesson to be learned from the most positive development of this year’s legislative session. While it had seemed none of the six initiatives would receive public hearings, the majority has ultimately decided to hold hearings on three of the six. Those hearings will be held today and tomorrow. I encourage you to make your voice heard!
- I-2111 | Prohibiting state and local personal income taxes
- Public hearing on Tuesday, February 27, at 12:30 p.m. | House Hearing Room A
- House Finance Committee joint with Senate Ways and Means Committee
- Sign up to testify | Submit written testimony
- Watch on TVW
- I-2081 | Establishing a Parents’ Bill of Rights
- Public hearing on Wednesday, February 28, at 8:00 a.m. | House Hearing Room A
- House Education Committee joint with Senate Early Learning and K-12 Education Committee
- Sign up to testify | Submit written testimony
- Watch on TVW
- I-2113 | Restoring vehicular pursuits
- Public hearing on Wednesday, February 28, at 9:00 a.m. | Senate Hearing Room 4
- House Community Safety, Justice, and Reentry Committee joint with Senate Law and Justice Committee
- Sign up to testify | Submit written testimony
- Watch on TVW
We don’t yet know if the majority will move I-2111, I-2081, and I-2113 forward to be voted on or if they’ll end up on November’s ballot. We do know, however, that the other three initiatives will NOT be heard and will be on the ballot.
- I-2117 (Repealing the carbon tax)
- I-2124 (Opting out of the state long-term care program and payroll tax)
- I-2109 (Repealing the capital gains tax)
Thank you for standing strong with us this session as we’ve pushed for public hearings on all six initiatives. Your voice truly does matter. We will continue fighting for you and fighting to fix Washington until the final gavel comes down on March 7.
