Republicans discuss initiatives, public safety crisis with media

House and Senate Republicans told reporters why they are attempting to demand public hearings on three citizens’ initiatives now in the Legislature during a media availability that also included a variety of questions about how to address the public safety crisis in the state.

Reporters also asked Republicans about child care, homelessness, cell phones in schools, a Democrat-proposed natural gas ban and the fact that farmers are still paying cap-and-trade costs on fuel despite an agricultural exemption required by the Climate Commitment Act.

Participants included House Republican Leader Drew Stokesbary, House Republican Deputy Leader Mike Steele, Senate Republican Leader John Braun, and Sen. Drew MacEwen.
